Sinetti archive information system

In Sinetti, you can find the information about the documents, maps, and plans preserved in the Helsinki City Archives. Sinetti is an archive information system that functions as an electronic catalogue for all materials of the City Archives. Through Sinetti, you can order materials into our research hall as well as access the digitized materials directly, wherever you are.

You can search for information about the City Archives’ materials by using Sinetti’s search form. For example, you can narrow your free-text search to include results only from a specific archive, time period, or specific types of materials, such as maps and plans. You can also use general keywords in your search or narrow it down geographically.

A large portion of the digitized typewritten materials has been processed through text recognition, allowing Sinetti’s search to find information within these documents as well. For data privacy reasons, some of the digitized materials are only available on the client terminals in the City Archives’ research hall. A proper manual on how to use Sinetti is currently available only in Finnish and Swedish. If you would like to submit an inquiry or a copy request regarding the materials held in the City Archive, you can do so via the feedback system.
